Dr. Pittman is a GI/Liver pathologist who practices general surgical pathology at Maimonides Medical Center. She earned her medical degree and completed an AP/CP residency at Washington University in St. Louis. During her residency, Dr. Pittman was chosen as chief resident by the faculty and as a recipient of a Distinguished Service Teaching Award by the medical students. She then moved to Baltimore for subspecialty training in GI/Liver pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital under the mentorship of Drs. Elizabeth Montgomery and Lysandra Voltaggio.

Post-fellowship, Dr. Pittman joined Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City as an assistant professor of pathology in the division of gastrointestinal and liver pathology. She also served as Director of AP Education and ran a popular "First Friday's Unknowns" slide session with the residents at Cornell. Dr. Pittman began working at Maimonides Medical Center in 2020. She enjoys being an active member of the clinical and research teams at the institution, as well as providing educational content to the medical students and pathology residents at SUNY Downstate.

Dr. Pittman is a member of the College of American Pathologists and serves on CAP's Federal and State Affairs committee. She is nationally known for her educational lectures in Liver and GI pathology, and recently published the second edition of the popular textbook Atlas of Gastrointestinal Pathology with co-editor Dr. Maryam Pezhouh.

Research Summary

My research focuses on the medical (non-neoplastic) diseases of the liver, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. Clinically, I enjoy working with gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and surgeons to care for the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary health of patients.
