Admission Requirements

A baccalaureate degree in any discipline from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) such as the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Basic computer programming and statistics courses are highly recommended but not required for admission.

Program Graduation Requirements

All students must complete at least 39 credits (with a minimum of B or better grade) which include:

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the Master of Science in Health Informatics degree.

Students completing a full-time course load may complete the program within two years. Part-time students may take three to four years to complete the program depending on the number of courses completed each semester.

Transfer Credits

On a case-by-case basis, a maximum of nine graduate-level course credits completed at an accredited institution may be transferred. The program faculty will conduct a course equivalency review and recommend acceptance or rejection of the transfer credit request to the SOHP Committee on Admissions and Academic Standing for final approval. Please note that credits from courses used toward previously granted degrees can not be transferred.
