External Scholarships & Grants

This a list of list of outside scholarships and grants collected by the Financial Aid Office that students seeking additional funding are welcome to apply for. Click on the link for your program to see outside scholarships that apply to only that program. 

Program-Specific Opportunities

General External Scholarships

 

Student, their spouse, or their parent must be a union member.

 

All American Indian/Alaska Native students who are enrolled in their tribe, or have a parent who is an enrolled member are eligible.

 

Must be a U.S. citizen and  be member of a tribe or descendent of enrolled member.

 

Open to students of Armenian descent

 

Both merit-based and deed-based, the Cobell Scholarship is available to any student who is; an enrolled member of a US Federally-Recognized Tribe.

 

The amount of each fellowship will cover tuition costs plus an additional $18,000 annual stipend. The Fellowship accepts applications from graduate students in any recognized field of study.

 

Posts multiple opportunities for students of Italian heritage.

 

From federally recognized tribe and have proof of tribal enrollment. Based on financial need.

 

Civilian federal and postal employees, their spouses and dependents. See web site for more info.

Open to medical and dental students who have completed their first year of study, or occupational therapy/physical therapy/speech therapy/medical technology/pharmacy students who have completed a minimum of two years of study. Please email health-careers-director@iokds.org  for more information.

 

Open to all students who recognize the importance of healthy eating habits.

 

US citizen or legal permanent resident of Hispanic heritage.

 

Open to national JACL members.

 

Multiple scholarships open to students who are Korean or Korean American.

 

Open to students of Polish descent.

 

Under 40, US citizen/permanent resident. Requires interview in New York City.

 

Female, 25+, lives in US or Canada but is a national from a developing country, has record of service to women/children in her country, plans to return to native country. Must not hold US citizenship or permanent residency (green card) or Canadian citizenship or Canadian landed immigrant status.

 

Applicants are not required to be Hispanic; an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and an interest in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities is required. Must be enrolled in a medicine, dentistry, public health, pharmacy, nursing, or physician assistant program.

 

Multiple opportunities for Italian American students are posted.

 

Applicants must be associated with the Navajo nation.

 

Open to Women with a Bachelor's Degree who are residents of New York State.

New American, under 31 years old, and in first or second year.

 

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi, exceptional grades, a first year.

 

Any state, full time student. Must be “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.

Educational loan program to assist citizens from Latin America and the Caribbean

 

Varous scholarship opportunities available to students of Swiss descent.

 

Veteran and active duty service members from all branches of the military. Current spouses of veteran or active duty service members, including surviving spouses are eligible.

 

Demonstrate leadership in community services and school activities.

 

Applicant must be an American Indian or Alaska Native.

 

US citizens or permanent resident, living with epilepsy or family member living with epilepsy.

 

Scholarships Based on Residency Status

Name of Scholarship   Description

 

Applicants must have resided within the boundary limits of Duryea, Avoca, Dupont, Pittston City, Pittston Township, Jenkins Township, Yatesville, Hughestown, Suscon, Old Forge, Taylor, Moosic and Ransom Township for at least one year prior to graduating high school and/or completing an application for the Horvat Foundation Scholarship. 

 

Must have attended at least 8 years of public and/or parochial school in Connecticut, graduated from a public and/or parochial high school in Connecticut and should be in their 1–3 year of medical school. Award from $1,000 to $2,000

 

Must be Jewish & permanent and legal resident of Los Angeles County – for a minimum of three years.

 

Open to Jewish students from the Chicago metropolitan area.

 

Student member of NEHMDS of Hellenic descent.

 

Student must have attended school in Santa Barbara County.

 

Resident of Georgia and in financial need.

Wellsford & Mildred Clark Medical Memoria

 

Resident of Connecticut. Award up to $50,000 (over 4 years).
